Net Burners Sports is an AAU Basketball Program that was started five years ago in the Northwest suburban area of Chicago. Coaches Lonnie Welch and Toron Clark, who were basketball players themselves, had a vision to start a program that would afford athletes of all different ages and levels the opportunity to play basketball. Their love and respect for the game was what sparked their desire to mentor and help children develop their basketball abilities. Their goal was to inspire, encourage, and provide an opportunity for every child who aspired to play basketball and be part of a team. Over the years, Net Burners has strived to be one of the top AAU Basketball Programs in Illinois, and thanks to the support and confidence of our athletes and parents, we have succeeded in that goal. We have trained hundreds of children, coached numerous teams, and we continue to grow every season.
With this growth, Net Burners Sports has had the opportunity to expand as an organization. Recently, we have acquired new coaches and offered new locations. As part of our expansion we have also enhanced our goals. We are so thankful for all of our blessings, and we wanted the opportunity to give back. We are proud to say that we have started the Net Burners Foundation, a not for profit organization. With this title, we can now give children who are less fortunate the opportunity and experience of wearing Net Burners colors. With the combination of Net Burners Sports and the Net Burners Foundation, our future goal is to bring athletes from the city together with those from the suburbs, in order to form a diverse unit that will learn and grow from each other’s differences, all while sharing the same love of basketball.
